ACTION ALERT: SHE WAS IMPORTANT TOO! Help Police Find The Killer of Jodine Serrin, A Mentally-Challenged Carlsbad Woman.

This is in no way meant to diminish the suffering and pain that the parents of murdered teen Chelsea King are experiencing. However, let us also remember another murder victim in the San Diego area: Jodine Serrin. Jodine's parents may not have much in this life, but they have managed to come up with $2,000 in reward money to help find the brutal killer of their baby girl.

In eyes of the cultural elites and wealthy people of San Diego County, Jodine Serrin was a nobody. She was a 39 year-old mentally handicapped woman. She may not have been beautiful according to the standards set by the millionaire housewives in La Jolla or the billionaire mansion dwellers in Rancho Santa Fe, but according to Jodine's parents, their baby girl was a real jewel. For three years, Jodine's parents, Arthur and Lois Serrin of Carlsbad, have been looking for the killer of their baby girl.

Jodine's brutal murderer was found in her bed by Arthur and Lois on Valentines Day of 2007 after they let themselves into Jodine's Carlsbad apartment to check on her. Jodine Serrin's body was discovered Feb. 14, 2007 by her parents and the half-dressed man who had beaten Jodine to death fled before the Serrins realized what had happened and police could arrive to make an arrest. The police say the killer left DNA at the scene.

Jody, as her parents and friends liked to call her, was memorialized in a 2007 published obituary. If you have ANY information that can help Arthur and Lois Serrin find the killer of their baby girl please contact your local police department. Anyone with information is asked to call the San Diego County CrimeStoppers tip line at 888-580-8477. Source: Family Doubles Reward for Disabled Woman's Killer NBC San Diego
And remember: Jodine Serrin was a special woman and according to me, Jody was a somebody too!

We little knew that morning that God was going to call your name - In life we loved you dearly, in death we do the same - It broke our hearts to lose you, you did not go alone - For part of us went with you, the day God called you home - You left us beautiful memories, we didn#'t plan to be apart - And though we cannot see you, you will always be in our heart. - Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same - But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

Jodine, known as Jodi to family and friends, was an innocent victim of a senseless murder/homicide. The tragic and unforgettable circumstances of her death should not overshadow what a beautiful person she was. Her gentle heart and loving ways touched those who knew her.

Jodi was born in Glendale, California. She grew up in Walton Hills, Ohio, and graduated in 1986 from Bedford High School. She loved making flower arrangements and after the family moved to Carlsbad, California, earned a certificate in floral design. Jodi loved animals, especially Sam, her gentle white horse, and her beloved cat, Angel.

She enjoyed horseback riding, ice-skating, biking, crafts, and kayaking and found peace and comfort in taking long walks along the beach.

Jodi loved helping others, especially homebound senior citizens. She enjoyed volunteering at her church and the Humane Society. She was grateful for the support from the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI). She was an enthusiastic Walk-A-Thon fundraiser for various groups each year. She treasured the time she spent with her friends at Mariposa and the Copper Hill/Friends Group.

Jodi is survived by her parents, Arthur and Lois Serrin of Carlsbad; her siblings, Michael Serrin and wife Lydia, Nancy Chrisopulos and husband Thomas, Barbara Petsche and husband Jeff, Carole Cercek and husband Tom, and Chuck Serrin; her nieces and nephews, Tammy Serrin and son, Lunden, Sally Serrin, Valerie and Joey Serrin, Bryan, Jordan, and Gregory Petsche, and Amy and Jonah Cercek.
Our memories of Jodi we will cherish with love and without end.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate that all donations in memory of Jodine Serrin be given to: North Coastal San Diego County (NAMI), National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, P.O. Box 2235, Carlsbad, CA 92018, (888)999-NAMI,

I'm really glad you brought this up. I bring her up every chance I get. I even wrote to Nancy Grace about her.

Jodi was a personal friend of mine, and let me tell you the pictures in the media do NOT do her justice, in the least!

She was lithe and petite, and physically very attractive. She had a beautiful face, framed by golden locks, and a gorgeous smile that could light up your heart.

She was also generous, caring, friendly and trusting. If San Diego knew Jodine Serrin, the way I knew her, they would be OUTRAGED that her killer has not been caught, after all this time.

Certainly, she was an adult woman, but her beauty and mental disability made her a target, she looked and acted much younger than her age. She was as innocent and vulnerable, as any child.

San Diego may have forgotten about Jodine, but her friends and the people who knew and loved her - have not.

Jodine had a loving family who looked after her, and took care of her. She was loved and cherished, and its high time that her killer was caught.
