Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as day.

I'm standing with our needy friends in City Heights during our Thanksgiving Day dinner for the homeless. Me and my friend Susan Ringo prepared dinners for twelve hungry men living on the streets of our little neighborhood in San Diego. We brought the food to the heart of City Heights and served them in the public park. Susan and I go to Mid-City Christian Fellowship where we believe in reaching out to our own neighbors who are hungry and suffering.

"Is this not the fast which I choose, to loosen the bonds of wickedness, to undo the bands of the yoke, and to let the oppressed go free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your bread with the hungry and that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, and not hide yourself from your own flesh? Then your light will break out like the dawn, and your recovery will speedily spring forth; And your righteousness will go before you; The glory of the LORD will be your rear guard." Isaiah 58:6-8

My friend Susan Ringo cooked all day in preparation for the Thanksgiving meal that she and I would serve to our homeless friends in San Diego's City Heights neighborhood. Susan and I serve the City of San Diego in our respective ministries and attend Mid-City Christian Fellowship.

"Feed the hungry and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you will be as bright as day." Isaiah 58:10
