To Each His Own? The truth is -- I'm trying to destroy your way completely

Excuse me sir. I'm not trying to get in your way during this present war to save my generation. Indeed, I'm not trying to get in your way at all. The truth is -- I'm trying to destroy your way completely.
"They have corrupted themselves; They are not His children, Because of their blemish: They are a perverse and crooked generation." Deuteronomy 32:5

The group Faith, Hope and Charity utilized this Biblical phrase as the name of their R & B group in the 1970's. Diane Destry joined the group in 1975 and propelled the group to their #1 R & B and groundbreaking early disco hit "To Each His Own." They may have had a Biblical phrase for their group's name, but the sad reality is this:

In 1979, just four years after they hit the top of the charts & helped to launch the disco era, To Each Own songwriter Van McCoy died of a heart attack. 39 year-old McCoy was also known for the mega hit "The Hustle." Lead singer Diane Destry, on top of the world with her group's hit, "To Each His Own" in 1975, died of AIDS & drug abuse just a few short years later.

Churchgoers may hang a few Bible verses around their sanctuary, and they may even quote, ever so cleverly, a few Bible verses from memory. Yet, deep in the sorrowful soul of self-deception & rebellion, lies a trouble that may eventually consume one's life until a point of no return is reached with God.

Thanks James for your every effort to save this generation! This is a very good warning. Sadly, many people can't wake up no matter what. I've been trying to save my son. There were times he made some progress, but that hasn't lasted long. I'll use this post to warn him again.

James - What a great example of ideas having consequences! When man thinks he can mock the moral laws of God these are the devastating results. Sadly, this generation is too often shielded by parents and others that ideas and actions have consequences! God has given us the "Law of Love" by which to live and live indeed! Thanks for sharing this piece it is truly a great example.

Thankfully, my Aunt Diane Destry, was changed and delivered, and became a powerful preacher a few years before passing. Her testimony is great amongst family and friends and all that knew her.

Having personally known EVANGELIST Diane Destry I have to totally agree with her relative that posted. She was a wonderful example of the transforming power of God and was the epitome of true faith, hope, and charity. In the world it was the name of the group she sang with, but in God it was her way of life. I was so privileged to know this remarkable woman with a powerful witness...to sit at her table, sit by her side, to praise God with her, to be a recipient of her life AND ministry, and to be in her presence during her final days. I would be remiss if I did not correct the blogger's timeline. Evangelist Destry did not die "a few short years" after "being on top of the world." Her story does not end as tragically as this blog claims. Evangelist Destry went on to live 20 years after the days of Faith, Hope, and Charity before she was received up into Glory. Her legacy of love and a life lived unto God will forever be respected and cherished by all who knew her.
