The Battle Begins on October 28, 2008

Battle Against Government-Sanctioned City Council Resolution
Which Will Force All San Diegans to Oppose California Marriage
Protection Amendment "Whether they like it, or not"
Begins on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 with a Prayer Rally and
Citizens Standing Up For Their Rights at the San Diego City Council

If the San Diego City Council passes resolution to Oppose Prop. 8,
all San Diego voters will be forced to support a government-sanctioned
campaign of opposition to traditional marriage, "whether they like it, or not!"

Political Leaders, Ministers, Community Activists
and Big Number of Prop. 8 Supporters will participate
in Oct. 28th Prayer Rally and City Council Hearing as
Battle Royale Is Fought Over Unpopular San Diego
City Council-approved "No on 8" Resolution

(JHReport) A number of nationally prominent political leaders and ministers are joining some of San Diego's most respected community leaders and Christian Evangelicals for a pro-marriage prayer rally at the San Diego City Concourse. The prayer rally at 8:30am will be followed up with a major protest during the San Diego City Council meeting at 10;00am because of the city council's pending October 28th vote to issue an official city resolution opposing Prop. 8, the California Marriage Protection Amendment.

Earlier this week, the James Hartline Report issued an action alert to its 25,000 readers notifying them that the Rules Committee of the San Diego City Council had voted 4-1 to recommend a city council resolution opposing Prop. 8. If passed, the resolution will be done in the name of the entire City of San Diego and its citizens. According to James Hartline, publisher of California Christian News, the parent company of the James Hartline Report, response has been overwhelming regarding the city council's action to force a government-sanctioned campaign of opposition to the California Marriage Protection Amendment.

"We have received hundreds of emails and phone calls from Evangelicals, Mormons, Catholics, Republicans, Independents, and even some Democrats, who are outraged with the tyrannical attitude of this city council towards marriage and Prop. 8," says Hartline. "I think that people are most offended with this city council acting as if they are using the government's bully pulpit to control and demean San Diego voters rather than working for the voters," he adds.

October 28th will be a real Battle Royale at City Hall. Some of the best and brightest San Diegans will be carrying their message of "Not In My Name" to the San Diego City Council and Mayor during the Tuesday events. A full spectrum of citizens will be involved in a number of events leading up to the Tuesday, October 28th City Council meeting.

This week, Leo Giovinetti, pastor of Mission Valley Christian Fellowship, is broadcasting a series of programs called "A Week of Hope" on the 400 radio stations which make up Real Life Radio. Giovinetti says that the programs serve as a biblically inspired way to help Christians and voters understand the trying times they live in. The Week of Hope series will culminate in Pastor Giovinetti asking his audience in San Diego and throughout America to fast and pray on Friday, October 24, 2008.

The Real Life Radio prayer and fasting event will serve as fuel for the hundreds of San Diegans who are going to be participating, either in person, through the internet, or via a live broadcast of the Prayer Rally and City Council battle. The Wiley Drake Show, which broadcasts nationally on Crusade Radio, will be carrying a live interview segment during the morning events at the San Diego Civic Center.

Beginning today, Jack and Jeanette Zarour will be leading a daily march around the San Diego City Concourse in an effort to remind the San Diego City Council that marriage rights come from God. "I am outraged that this city council is attacking God through their efforts to oppose Prop. 8," says Jack Zarour.

The Zarours are members of St Anthony Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church and had never been involved in public activism prior to the current attack against the institution of marriage by the San Diego City Council. Jack Zarour owns Meliorations Quality Painting, a very successful residential painting company. Zarour, who has printed up 100 t-shirts at his own expense, will be donating the t-shirts to participants of his daily march around city hall, as well as the October 28th prayer rally. He also tells JHReport that he is taking off from work until the November 4th election is over so that he can lead the march around city hall every day. Zarour's march begins at 3:00pm each day at 202 "C" Street in downtown San Diego.

A number of prominent San Diego politicians and pastors are taking their stand with the dozens of San Diegans who will be participating in the October 28th prayer rally and city council hearing. Pastor Dennis Breedlove of Mission Valley Christian Fellowship has been involved in nearly every major social issue in San Diego over the past five years. Breedlove was on the frontlines in the battle to save the Mt. Soledad Memorial Cross from being torn down. He has also played a critical role in helping San Diegans become involved in the Prop. 8 campaign. Pastor Breedlove is proudly sponsoring the Prayer Rally at the San Diego City Concourse.

Jim Hill, Senior Pastor of North Clairemont United Methodist Church has confirmed his support for the October 28th prayer rally. Pastor Hill will be speaking at the event and is encouraging his congregation to join him to make a stand at city hall during the rally and city council hearing.

Word of the October 28th event has spread quickly around the United States. Several major figures in the Christian Conservative movement are acting as official sponsors of the event. Gregory Thompson, candidate for Governor of Missouri, is throwing his support behind the prayer rally and the stand that the San Diego voters are making in opposition to the city council's decision to oppose Prop. 8. Joining Thompson to endorse and sponsor the October 28th event are Coach Dave Daubenmire of Pass the Salt Ministries and Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt.

Chaplain Klingenschmitt has earned a renowned reputation for one of the greatest stands on behalf of religious liberty in American history. He founded Praying in Jesus Name ministry after he was court-martialed by the Navy for disobeying orders by “worshipping in public” in uniform. After his court-martial, Chaplain Klingenschmitt was discharged from the Navy after a 16-year career.

Congress finally intervened in the Klingenschmitt matter and ordered the Navy to rescind their bad policy of disallowing Navy chaplains from praying in the Name of Jesus. Today, military chaplains are once again free to pray publicly in Jesus' name. However, Chaplain Klingenschmitt had to pay the price. He lost a one million dollar pension and his stellar military career because he placed a higher priority on his faith in Jesus Christ than he did on his military career.

James Hartline says that it is a great honor for the people of San Diego to have Chaplain Klingenschmitt endorse and sponsor the October 28th prayer rally at city hall. "With our religious liberties being threatened by the San Diego City Council, it is very encouraging to have this honorable chaplain supporting our event at city hall," says Hartline.

Another name that is celebrated internationally for his courageous stand on behalf of religious liberties and pro-family activism is highly respected Attorney-at-Law Scott D. Lively. James Hartline sees Scott Lively as one of his heroes in the battle to preserve religious freedom in America. "We are so pleased to have Scott Lively sponsoring our prayer rally and city council event," declares Hartline. "Scott is one of the bravest men in America's culture war and we enthusiastically embrace his support here in San Diego."

Two San Diego Evangelical political leaders who are also facing severe attacks against their faith, much like the Prop. 8 campaign is experiencing at the hands of the San Diego City Council, are Grossmont Union High School District board members Priscilla Schreiber and Larry Urdahl. For several years, both Urdahl and Schreiber have made courageous stands on behalf of moral values while on the school board. Urdahl and Schreiber are also proud sponsors of the October 28th prayer rally.

The resolution is being presented on Monday, Oct 27, 2 pm; NOT Tuesday Oct 28. Need to change rally time. Here is the link to the agenda itself: http://docs.sandiego.gov/councildockets/dkt2008/dkt20081027.pdf. It is item 154--Resolution R-2009-473.

The City Council's action was highly supportive of the traditional gay lifestyle. Welcome to the new world order.
