Contending With Pharaoh:
How San Diego Christians Are
Confronting A Local Territorial Principality
and Other Lessons Learned From Moses in Ancient Egypt
And the Lord said unto Moses, "I have surely seen the affliction
of My people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by
reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows; and I have
come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians,
and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land."
Exodus 3:7-8
"Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto me;
and I have seen the oppression wherewith the Egyptians oppress them.
Come therefore, and I will send you unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest
bring forth My people the children of Israel out of Egypt."
Exodus 3:9-10
"And Moses returned unto the Lord, and said, 'Lord. wherefore
hast thou so entreated this people? Why hast thou sent me? For since
I came to Pharaoh to speak in Thy name, he has done evil to your people;
neither hast Thou delivered Thy people at all.' "
Exodus 5:22-23
"Then the Lord unto Moses, 'Now shalt thou see what I will do to
Pharaoh: for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong
hand shall he drive your people out of his land.' "
Exodus 6:1
"And the Lord said unto Moses, 'See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh;
and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet. Thou shalt speak all that I
command thee: and Aaron thy brother shall speak unto Pharaoh, that he
shall send the children of Israel out of his land of bondage.' "
Exodus 7:1-2
"And I will harden Pharaoh's heart, and multiply My signs and wonders
in the land of Egypt. But Pharaoh will not hearken unto you, that I may
lay My hand on Egypt, and bring forth Mine armies, and My people the
children of Israel, out of the land of Egypt with great judgments."
Exodus 7:3-4
"And the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I stretch forth
My hand upon Egypt, and bring out the children of Israel from among them."
Exodus 7:5
"And Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded them, so did they."
Exodus 7:6
Tuesday, July 11, 2006 was a painful day for me. It was a day where my soul was surely afflicted under the hand of my God. Once again, I and my most faithful fellow Christians had gone to the very ungodly domain of the San Diego City Council to plea for that most rebellious group of city officials to make a righteous decision according to the will and purposes of our God. The city's new Republican mayor, Jerry Sanders, had proposed one of the most horrific and unholy initiatives for a vote that day. The needle exchange program would allow the free distribution of clean hypodermic syringes to all of the I.V. drug users in the city of San Diego. This is the dark solution that Mayor Sanders believes will help resolve disease transmission. In reality, this proposal is satan's death agenda repackaged as an "angel of light" program created out of the pits of hell. Servants of the Most High God went to the council to go to battle on behalf of God's righteous standard. These servants included Evie Hey and her son Shane, MVCF Youth Minstry teammembers Lyle Detwiler and David Zonderby, Debbie Palmer, Rev. Luauna Stines, Don Lindsay and Bill Daniel. Fabiola Francesca Murphy, with her little baby girl in hand, brought her two little warrior sons, who both got right up to the front of the city council podium and looked at those rebellious adult city council members and conveyed with holy stares, this simple message, "Not on my watch, you cannot have our generation anymore!"
True believers in the Bible know that the injecting of illicit drugs is a form of witchcraft. The New Testament book of Galatians clearly articulates this:
"Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions,
heresies, envyings, murders, drunkeness, revellings, and such like:
of which I tell you before, as I have also told you in times past, that they
which do such things shall not inherit the Kingdom of God."
Galatians 5:20
The Greek language translation for the term witchcraft listed in Galatians is pharmakeia, the word we also translate for our American application for the term pharmacy (dispensary of medications). The ancient Greek application of phramakeia was applied to witchcraft as it relates to the banned works of the flesh, because the ancient practice of witchcraft included the use or administrating of drugs in occultic rituals, poisoning, sorcery, magical arts, and often found in connection with idolatry and fostered such practice. Simply put, those that are under the influence of mind altering drugs are prey to having their confused mental states infiltrated and possessed by people and unholy spirits.

By Mayor Sanders pushing forth this diabolic and deadly effort to distribute needles to I.V. drug users, he is leading the city to make a covenant with the spirit of witchcraft and pagan ritualism. This is exactly why we, as believers, came forth to speak into the heart of the city council on this matter. The city's approval to enter into a covenant with the distributors of hypodermic needle devices to perpetuate illegal drug use, allows the governmental structure of San Diego to grant authority to the demonic realm of witchcraft to have its way in our city.
During the city council meeting, we believers were bashed and persecuted for our faith on this matter. The city council chamber was packed full of homosexual and lesbian activists, as well as transsexual employees of city-funded medical programs, all there to oppose our most righteous stand for godliness. We were pressed down and harrassed by the demonic spirits that held sway in that rebellious chamber. But like the Apostle Paul has articulated so appropriately to the Corinthians in his time of similar trial, we spoke as the Lord had commanded us to do:
"But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not
trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead, who delivered
us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that He
will yet deliver us."
2 Corinthians 1:9-10
We were grieved as Republicans, Mayor Jerry Sanders and Councilman Kevin Faulconer, departed from what is the right thing to do and joined with the very anti-christian propaganda of the liberal Democats on the city council to send the beaten down souls of drug addicts to their further demise. The Lord sent us to make our stand in the face of radical, anti-christian propagandists on the city council like lesbian Toni Atkins, new age female councilwoman Donna Frye, lukewarm alledged Christian Toni Young, and pro-abortion Democrats Ben Hueso and Scott Peters. Oh, how they mocked us. Oh, how they looked down upon us with their arrogant and proudful eyes as they joined all of the pagan, anti-christian advocates in that council meeting to vote yes on restarting the needle exchange program.
I asked the Lord afterwards, "God, what good does it do to speakout in front of these dark anti-christian leaders who we know will refuse to listen to our hearts and intents based upon the truth of Your word?" And the Lord reminded me, "Have I not commanded you to go and speak out in My name. I am responsible to take from your obedience and make My will be done through your tongues and voices of righteousness."
The Lord then reminded me of the history of Moses and his lengthy conflict with stubborn Pharaoh. Pharaoh would not listen. Time after time, the Lord sent Moses into speak the will of God into Pharaoh's domain. Time after time, Pharaoh would not bow. Stubborn in heart, pagan in spirit, hateful of God, this Egyptian leader would not bow to Moses when this deliverer was sent by God to deliver the Israelites out of their bondage.
Furthermore, the Lord reminded me that each time Pharaoh resisted Moses, there was a resulting and worsening judgment upon Egypt. The system that had empowered the great slavemaster Pharaoh was being degraded and weakened each time Moses and Aaron went forward and spoke "thus saith the Lord." It is no different today. We in San Diego are contending with the same spiritual evil as Moses contended with in ancient Egypt. We are, in every sense of the word, contending with Pharaoh all over again. And like the battle that raged between stubborn Pharaoh and obedient Moses, there is a judgment being unleashed upon San Diego's corrupt system and its leaders each time we go forward to the city council and speak what the Lord had commanded us.
Just look at our recent battle with the rebellious San Diego City Council on the Mt. Soledad Cross issue. For the last three years, Christians have gone repeatedly before the council asking for justice and the saving of the cross atop the Mt. Soledad Memorial. Each time, we have been rebuked. Each time the council has assumed the same attitude that had polluted the thoughts and intents of the ancient Egyptian Pharaoh. And each time that the San Diego Councilmembers have sought to degrade our Christian values on this matter, God's judgment has been brought forward against the heathens on the council. Three councilmembers, Charles Lewis, Michael Zucchet and Ralph Inzunza were miraculously removed from the council during the Mt. Soledad Cross battle, All three were indicted for taking bribes from the Cheetah's Strip Club owners. Lewis mysteriously died nearly two years ago at age 37 of liver disease. Zucchet and Inzuna were convicted and subsequequntly removed from the council. Donna Frye, a rabid, anti-christian, pro-abortion liberal, has been vehemenent in her opposition to Christians and the cross. She recently was humiliated when running for the mayor's race, as she was soundly defeated. Mayor Murphy resigned in disgrace which opened up the mayoral position. Both Murphy and Lewis who claimed to be Christians and supported the Mt. Soledad cross, were two horrific compromisers on every other matter involving morality. Both were rabid supporters of abortion. Both empowered the homosexual agenda to takeover the city of San Diego. Both were hypocrites and God would not be mocked any further by these compromisers.
We are contending with Pharaoh each time we go down to the San Diego City Council. We are ordered by God to speak and let God do the rest. But God will not move to clean up the corruption unless His people step forward with courage and boldness to speak on His behalf. Yes, we have once again been told no by stubborn Pharaoh on the matter of the needle exchange program. Yet, we know that sometime soon, we will prophetically see an intensifed judgment on these council leaders who have made covenant with Mayor Jerry Sanders and the witchcraft spirit of illegal drug use. We will continue to stand firm on this proposition: obedience to God is the hallmark of true Christianity and no other way will do. Pharaoh will let this city and its people go! And we wil have no other king, but King Jesus.
