A Miracle In The Midst Of The Plague

I have suddenly and miraculously been cured of a disease that I have been fighting for sixteen years. My doctor says that she has never seen this before in her 22 years as an HIV specialist. Not only that, but my entire endocrine system which has nearly been destroyed for over twenty years because of AIDS, suddenly began to work normally in March of this year.  My specific case of HIV infection is one of the most scientically important cases in the history of the epidemic because of how and when I was infected. In 1997 I was a 39 year-old HIV-negative individual who had never been infected with the disease despite having been exposed to HIV many times during my earlier life of sexual promiscuity and IV drug use. In 1997 I also learned that a prior Hepatitis C infection that I had acquired in 1989 had disappeared from my body without me ever having received any medical treatment to treat the disease. 

Based upon these very unusual medical circumstances, a world renowned immunologist and high profile biotech researcher at Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California named Donald Mosier, MD, PhD contacted me. 

 

Dr. Mosier was extremely driven to get me to participate in his laboratory research. Ultimately, this would end up being one of the biggest mistakes of my life. Initially, Dr. Mosier confirmed through a serious of blood tests that I had, in fact, never been infected with HIV. He also confirmed that I had somehow completely cleared a prior infection with Hepatitis C from my body without any medical intervention. 

This drove Dr. Mosier to set up a special cell line from samples of my blood to discover if I had an anomaly in my immune system that not only destroyed the Hepatitis C virus, but also protected me from being infected with HIV.  Dr. Mosier's NIH funding was for the purposes of conducting research on the CCR5 protein which is a protein on the surface of white blood cells that is involved in the immune system as it acts as a receptor for chemokines (signaling protein secreted by cells). Chemokines like the CCR5 protein act as a chemoattractant to guide the migration of cells. In order for HIV to infect a human being it uses the CCR5 protein to gain entrance into immune cells. Approximately 2% of the general population are missing the CCR5 protein, thus they cannot be infected with HIV no matter how many times they are exposed to the virus. Initially, Dr. Mosier thought I might be missing the CCR5 protein which would explain why I had never been infected with HIV despite my having been exposed to the virus many times due to my previous life of sexual promiscuity and IV drug use. 

Early lab results from Dr. Mosier's NIH-funded laboratory revealed that I DID have the CCR5 protein. Consequently, that should have been the end of Dr. Mosier's studying of my blood samples and my continued involvement in his research. However, Dr. Mosier continued to schedule me for more and more appointments in his laboratory where he extracted more and more of my blood. Dr. Mosier was determined to discover the anomaly in my immune system. He also had me sign many documents which stated that any discoveries, cures or medical treatment from my blood was the sole propriety of Dr. Mosier, Scripps, pharmaceutical corporations and investors. Further, I had to waive my rights and any claims to any discoveries, cures or medical treatments from my blood. Dr. Mosier convinced me to continue participating in his research by telling me I might be a part of history and a cure for AIDS. As a person who hadn't ever accomplished much to benefit society at that point in my life I agreed to sign the documents and to continue participating in Dr. Mosier's lab research.

For five months I regularly participated in Dr. Mosier's lab research of my blood. Then, one day immediately following the Thanksgiving holiday in 1997 I began to get very ill. Deathly ill. By December 1, 1997 I could no longer get out of bed even to go to the bathroom and urinate. I called Dr. Mosier to tell him how sick I was. He responded by telling me over the telephone, "Well, maybe you've been infected with HIV." 

For now I won't go into any further details surrounding that phone call. I'm simply referencing it to document the day that I was actually infected with AIDS and the circumstances surrounding my infection with HIV nearly 23 years ago.

I am the only person in the history of the AIDS epidemic who scientists were studying my blood at the exact time I was infected with virus. In a published research study from 1999 that has now been cited by over 350 scientists in various reseach publications from around the world I am referred to as Patient 059. 

As you can see in the following tables from the research study, I am described as Patient 059, a 39 year-old male. Blood samples taken from me on Day 3 post-infection there were 30 copies/ml of serum HIV RNA in my blood. Nine days later on Day 12 post-infection I had 21,617,100 copies/ml of serum HIV RNA in my blood. That is one of the highest HIV viral loads ever seen in the history of the AIDS epidemic.

For thus says the Lord, "Your wound is incurable and your injury is beyond healing. There is no one to plead your cause nor any healing of your wound. All your lovers have forgotten you. They do not seek and long for you. For I have injured you with the wound of an enemy, with the punishment of a cruel and merciless foe, because your guilt is great and your sins are glaring and innumerable. Why do you cry out over your wound? Your pain is incurable and deadly. Because your guilt is great and your sins are glaring and innumerable I have done these things to you. Therefore all who devour you will be devoured and all your adversaries, every one of them, will go into captivity. Those who plunder you will become plunder and all who prey upon you I will give for prey. For I will restore health to you and I will heal your wounds," says the Lord. "Because they have called you an outcast, saying, 'This is Zion; no one seeks her and no one cares for her.'" Jeremiah‬ ‭30:12-17‬

In 2004, because I was suffering with extreme fatigue, my doctor tested me for adrenal insufficiency. The adrenal glands release cortisol into the body for a wide variety of bodily functions critical to life. Without cortisol a human being would die in the same manner that a person who does not produce insulin will also die without insulin injections. 

Cortisol helps the body regulate many functions including stress. The following screenshot provides you with the test results of my cortisol levels since 2004. 

As indicated in the second screenshot, the normal range for cortisol levels is 6.0-18.4 in the morning between 6am and 10am. Tests for cortisol levels are always done first thing in the morning to acquire the most acurate test results. As indicated in the first screenshot my first test result of my cortisol level from 06/01/2004 shows that I was producing almost no cortisol. My level was 0.3 . That is an extremely dangerous low level and could cause a fatality under certain circumstances. 

My doctor ordered me to complete the adrenal insufficiency blood testing on June 8, 2004. This requires two blood tests. The first one tests the cortisol level first thing in the morning. Again, the result came back 0.7 which was dangerously low. Based upon that result, I was injected with an artificial hormone injection called ACTH to determine how I responded and what amount of cortisol replacement medication I would be placed on. Then I was retested after the administration of the ACTH. The test result came back at 8.4 . I was then prescribed 20mg of oral hydrocortisone that I would have to take for the rest of my life in the same way a diabetic must take insulin everyday for diabetes. During one three year period my medication amount was increased because of ongoing fatigue and I was put on prednisone. These types of medications are also prescribed to patients who have had organ transplants to prevent organ rejection in the recepients of the transplanted organs.

Intermittenly, my cortisol levels were tested while on the medication as indicated by the lab tests between 02/18/05 and 05/13/2014. Those tests all returned with normal results while I was on the medication. You will see a test result from 06/10/2014 where I was required to do a hyrocortisone fast for 24 hours to determine how my adrenal glands were functioning without the medication. Once again the cortisol levels were dangerously low at 1.8 without any medication for 24 hours. This again confirms a diagnosis of severe adrenal insufficiency.

I have had the adrenal insufficiency diagnosis reconfirmed many times over the last 16 years. Adrenal insufficiency is a very common diagnosis in chronically ill AIDS patients and one of the primary causes of high morbidity in HIV+ patients.

“Behold, how happy and fortunate is the man whom God reproves. So do not despise or reject the discipline of the Almighty subjecting you to trial and suffering. For He inflicts pain, but He binds up and gives relief. He wounds, but His hands also heal. He will rescue you from six troubles, even in seven, evil will not touch you.” Job‬ ‭5:17-19

On 03/09/2020 I was again ordered to do a hydrocortisone fast for 24 hours followed by an early morning test. This time something every unusual happened. The test result came back with a normal cortisol level of 11.5 without any hydrocortisone medication for 24 hours. 

The result had to be a mistake. My doctor once again ordered a 24 hour fast from hydrocortisone and retest on 04/13/2020. This time the test result came back with an extremely high cortisol level of 22.4. 

I immediately called my doctor because the endocrinologist contacted me to tell me he thinks I've been cured of adrenal insufficiency and wanted me to stop taking the hydrocortisone. My doctor then ordered another blood test with a 24 hour hydrocortisone fast on April 20, 2020. Once again the blood test returned with a normal cortisol level of 9.7. This was followed up with one additional blood test on April 29, 2020 where my doctor instructed me to take no hydrocortisone for 72 hours to make sure all medication was cleared from my system. The blood test results returned with a normal cortisol level of 16.2

I have now been officially cured of adrenal insufficiency. This is one of the biggest miracles ever seen in the 40 year history of the AIDS epidemic. I have been battling AIDS for 23 years. I believe there is a cure coming very soon. This is a sign from the Lord. It is a sign of hope. It is a miracle in the midst of the plague.
