For the last twenty years I have devoted my life, at great cost to myself, to defending abuse victims and to stop predators from abusing more victims. I decided the one thing I could do with my life in response to the unjust experiences that were forced upon me as a minor is to be a courageous advocate and public voice for the voiceless victims of abuse. I have attempted to do this to the best of my abilities for two decades.

Powerful Movie Director Roman Polanski drugged, raped and sodomized a 13 year-old girl in 1977.
On 11 March 1977, three years after making the Oscar winning movie Chinatown, Roman Polanski was arrested at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel for the sexual assault of 13-year-old Samantha Gailey. Samantha had been lured into modeling for Polanski during a Vogue photoshoot the previous day around the swimming pool at the Bel Air home of Jack Nicholson. Samantha's mother had insisted that she be present with her daughter during the photoshoot. However Polanski adamantly refused to allow the mother to be present during the photoshoot, as he claims, it would interfere with his ability to accomplish the job. The mother acquiesced to Polanski's demands. After all, Polanski was one of the most famous and celebrated directors in the world, so what could possibly go wrong.
What could go wrong: Polanski gave booze to 13 year-old Samantha, then gave her drugs. He then began to groom the innocent 13 year-old virgin girl by asking her if she had ever had sex before. Trapped and alone, Samantha did not know what to do. Polanski proceeded to #rape and #sodomize 13 year-old Samantha.
Polanski expressed on previous occasions his desire for "young girls".
Polanski was indicted on six counts of criminal behavior, including rape. At his arraignment, he pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Samantha Gailey's attorney arranged a plea bargain in which five of the six charges would be dismissed, and Polanski accepted.
As a result of the plea bargain, Polanski pleaded guilty to the charge of "unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor", and was ordered to undergo 90 days of psychiatric evaluation at the California Institution for Men at Chino. Upon release from prison after 42 days, Polanski agreed to the plea bargain, his penalty to be time served along with probabtion. However, he learned afterward that the judge, Laurence J. Rittenband, had told some friends that he was going to disregard the plea bargain and sentence Polanski to 50 years in prison.

His conviction occurred in California in 1977 when the state was experimenting with treating sex offenders crimes as a "psychiatric disorder" and sending them to #psychiatric hospitals to serve their time while receiving treatment for their sex crimes. Fast Forward to 2019 and the state of California, as have the rest of America, endured the plague and epidemic of sex offenders who rape and molest at will with no regard for the lives of their victims that they have destroyed. Currently in America there are literally millions of convicted pedophiles, rapists, sex traffickers and child pornographers. Only a small minority of those perverts who are convicted do not re-offend. The overwhelming majority of sex offenders reoffend every time they are released from prison. The only way to stop these #predators is to permanently imprison them.

Polanski decided not to appear at his sentencing. He told his friend, director Dino De Laurentis, "I've made up my mind. I'm getting out of here." On January 31, 1978, the day before sentencing, Polanski left the country on a flight to London where he had a home. One day later, he left for France. As a French citizen, he has been protected from extradition and has lived mostly in France since then. However, since he fled the United States before final sentencing, the charges are still pending.
In 1988, Samantha Gailey sued #Polanski. Among other things, the suit alleged sexual assault, false imprisonment, seduction of a minor, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. In 1993, Polanski agreed to settle with his victim. In August 1996, Polanski still owed her $604,416; court filings confirm that the settlement was completed by 1997 via a confidential financial arrangement. The victim, now married and going by the name Samantha Geimer, stated in a 2003 interview with Larry King that the police and media had been slow at the time of the assault to believe her account, which she attributed to the social climate of the era. In 2008, she stated, "I don't wish for him to be held to further punishment or consequences."

On September 27, 2009 Roman Polanski was arrested in Switzerland and faced possible extradition to the United States for the still pending charges and sentencing for the rape of a then-13 year-old girl in the home of actor Jack Nicholson. With the flippant and duplicitous enablement of wealthy entertainment industry executives and celebrities Polanski has lived on the run in Europe. Polanski's life of opulence and privilege in Europe has demonstrated Hollywood's utter disregard for the sexual #abuse victims whose lives are destroyed by the wealthy and powerful celebrities, directors, producers and executives who rape young #women and men.
Instead of holding Polanski accountable for his horrific crimes of drugging and raping a young girl, #Hollywood has rewarded Polanski with Academy Awards and many other accolades. Even worse, the hypocritical Democratic Party-funding celebrities who rant about women's rights have trashed Polanski's 13 year-old rape victim by their defense of Polanski and their continued celebration of the child rapist and their ongoing work for Polanski.

#JohnnyDepp is currently being accused of horrific crimes of abuse against actress #AmberHeard. Depp had the unmitigated gall to state in this videotaped interview, "Roman Polanski is not a predator," among many other sick and disgusting statements where Depp defends Polanski.
On October 30, 2015 Polish judge Dariusz Mazur denied a request by the United States to extradite Polanski (a dual French-Polish citizen) for a full trial, claiming that it would be "obviously unlawful". The Kraków prosecutor's office declined to challenge the court's ruling, agreeing that Polanski had served his punishment and did not need to face a U.S. court again. However, Poland's national justice ministry took up the appeal, arguing that sexual abuse of minors should be prosecuted regardless of the suspect's accomplishments or the length of time since the suspected crime took place. In a December 2016 decision, the Supreme Court of Poland dismissed the government's appeal, holding that the prosecutor general had failed to prove misconduct or flagrant legal error on the part of the lower court.

The prestigious organisation made the announcement on Thursday - two days after its board members voted on the issue.
In a statement, it said its board "has voted to expel actor #BillCosby and director Roman Polanski from its membership in accordance with the organisation's Standards of Conduct".
"The Board continues to encourage ethical standards that require members to uphold the Academy's values of respect for human dignity," it added.
Only four people are known to have been expelled in its 91-year history.
The first was actor Carmine Caridi, who had his membership revoked in 2004 after he allegedly sent confidential film preview videos to a friend which ended up online.
