I would hardly describe the Sister's of Perpetual Indulgence Easter Celebration as a "satanic" act, although I must admit that I'm tickled, James, that you read my article....In fact, I'm impressed you took such a liking to the Hunky Jesus contest. I was actually raised Catholic, and it's too bad you didn't take away the message I was trying to spread in my article on Elephant...one of love, tolerance, acceptance and helping others. Everything, if I'm not mistaken, that Jesus himself stood so strongly for. I invite you, James, to open up your heart, and ask yourself if rants like yours are doing anything to promote the values that Jesus stood for?Rachel Zneroldhttp://www.rachelzart.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29964825.post-71780871180030247392009-06-30T15:03:27.353-07:002009-06-30T15:03:27.353-07:00The Catholic Church does not have an exclusive pat...The Catholic Church does not have an exclusive patent on religion or a copyright on the Bible. While nuns are generally associated with the Catholic Church, there are other religions that employ nuns in their work and outreach to the public. The Catholic religion is one among many and God loves them all.

I belong to two churches, The Temple of Priapus and The Temple of Dionysus in San Diego (both are large home churches). Our scriptures, rituals, and customs are held in high esteem by our members but I am sure, like the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, some outsiders would consider us to be blasphemous. For example, in the Temple of Dionysus, we use parts of the King James Bible which has been rewritten under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to reflect what we feel God intended to convey.

In America we do not have blasphemy laws because we have religious freedom. No one has the right to tell anyone else how they can worship God or how to interpret the scriptures. That is one of the freedoms we celebrate on the 4th of July. That freedom is an essential part of the U.S. Constitution and while it often generates conflict among people of different beliefs, it is the bedrock freedom that will insure that this country will survive and thrive. This freedom is also good for religious people in the community at large because each faith community can compete in the marketplace of ideas and evolve by survival of the fittest.Donald S.noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29964825.post-33517466107407463082009-06-30T09:05:59.835-07:002009-06-30T09:05:59.835-07:00Well, I think that everything its acceptable withi...Well, I think that everything its acceptable within the own group, we just need to be careful with not insulting of making other people feel bad with what we do.Bingohttp://www.bingo.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29964825.post-67461549496321400982009-06-29T20:37:18.805-07:002009-06-29T20:37:18.805-07:00Ooh.
