Blasphemous Attack Against Catholic Church Included In Upcoming San Diego City Council Resolution Declaring Gay Pride Month

Christian Community Must Stand United Against Government-Sanctioned Hate Against The Catholic Church

The San Diego City Council, in partnership with San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, is preparing to launch one of their most bigoted and vicious attacks yet against Catholics during an upcoming city council meeting on Tuesday, July 14, 2009. On that day, Mayor Sanders, with the assumed approval of the city council, will honor an event that prominently features an organization declared heretical and blasphemous by Pope John Paul II. The organization deemed heretical by Pope John Paul II is called the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, a bigoted group of anti-catholic transvestites, is given a featured role each year in the annual San Diego Gay Pride Parade and Festival. Dressing up as Nuns and engaging in blasphemous behavior, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are applauded by members of the homosexual community for their attacks against the Catholic Church. On July 14, 2009, when Mayor Jerry Sanders and the San Diego City Council call on the citizens of San Diego to honor and celebrate those involved in the gay pride events, they too, will be applauding and embracing the discriminatory and blasphemous actions of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.

San Diego's municipal code §26.0901 specifically describes religious discrimination as behavior which constantly frustrates, degrades and embitters members of a protected class such as Christian and Catholic groups, thereby diminishing their initiative and interest in the community; and tends to create intergroup hostilities and anti–social behavior towards those protected groups.

In honoring the San Diego Gay Pride events where a prominent role is given to the anti-catholic hate group Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, the Mayor of San Diego and the City Council of San Diego are intentionally casting aside municipal codes outlawing religious discrimination and harassment.

Perhaps the reason that the mayor and city council are so quick to disregard the rights of Catholics is due to the fact that the mayor and council have appointed Nicole Murray Ramirez as chairman of the city's Human Relations Commission. The Human Relations Commission is responsible for monitoring and addressing religious discrimination violations in the City of San Diego. Human Relations Commission Chairman Nicole Murray Ramirez is a male transvestite with a notorious reputation for dressing up as a Catholic Nun and promoting xxx gay pornography and the Mr. Nude San Diego competition.

In 2008, the anti-catholic Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence organization was awarded the Rainbow Mile Award during the San Diego Gay Pride Parade for having the "most imaginatively decorated and colorful walking contingent." According to their self-declared annual financial statement, San Diego Gay Pride contributed $358 to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence in 2008.

When Pope John Paul II visited San Francisco in 1987, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence greeted him with a red carpet and performed a ritual exorcism to disgrace the pontiff. The San Francisco-based anti-catholic hate group claimed the Roman Catholic Church had issued a condemnation of homosexuality the previous year. The pope responded by declaring the transvestite group as heretics.

Pope John Paul II had good reason to make such a declaration against the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Rachel Znerold, a left-leaning and repugnant artist in San Francisco, wrote an article for the liberal online website The Elephant Journal where she describes a satanic event that she witnessed involving the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Znerold, detailing the transvestite nuns holding their annual "Hunky Jesus" contest during Easter, writes, "While I admit to always having thought Jesus to be slightly sexy, “Brokeback Jesus”, complete with stigmata and ass-less chaps, took the cake, although I have a feeling that I wasn’t really his type."

The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence conduct the Hunky Jesus contest each year in San Francisco during Easter. This blasphemous and filthy event showcases men engaging in perverse and sexualized behavior as they imitate Jesus on his way to the cruxifiction. Crude and gross comments are made by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence as they judge each Jesus "impersonator" in the contest.

The Roman Catholic Blog provides shocking evidence of just how vile the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are willing to become in their efforts to degrade and belittle the Catholic Church. In a video on the Roman Catholic Blog, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are filmed while conducting "Revival Bingo" at Ellard Hall which is owned by the Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco. The transvestites, dressed up as Nuns, can be seen giving out porn videos and sex toys as prizes for the bingo winners.

The Los Angeles Chapter of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence highlight their despicable anti-catholic rhetoric in a Q & A section on the group's website:

Q: Why do you make fun of nuns and/or the Catholic Church?
A: ".....While we do maintain a healthy critique of Catholic policies which ill favor the full range of human self-expression, we honor our Catholic brothers and sisters as we do the squirrels in the forest and the beetles on the leaf. Any resemblance to a Catholic nun is mere coincidence. Ok, maybe not "mere". While adopting the tongue in cheek (!) appearance of a mustached nun, we also believe we are nuns; gay nuns. We serve our community with faith and without judgment. We seek to uplift each person's spirit. And we spend hours on our knees in obedient supplication. And yes, we do take vows. Usually vows of iniquity."

One of the San Diego Gay Pride festival sponsors this year is a Palm Springs-based homosexual magazine called Talk Magazine. Talk Magazine displays public photos of members of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence engaging in disgusting simulated sexualized acts and other vile behaviors. In one photo album on the Talk Magazine website, the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence are seen participating in the Sadomasochistic Palm Springs Leather Pride.

In another set of photographs on the Talk Magazine website, an equally blasphemous event called Purgatory features members of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence engaging in a grotesque simulated orgy event.

As a primary sponsor of the San Diego Gay Pride events this year, Talk Magazine, which regularly promotes the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, will be part of the honor granted by Mayor Sanders and the San Diego City Council when they issue the month long city-endorsed Gay Pride proclamation.

A number of the San Diego City Councilmembers have publicly declared themselves to be Catholic. They have used their affiliation with the Catholic Church as a selling point while campaigning for the city council. Among the council members who claim to be Catholic are Carl DeMaio and Ben Hueso. Councilman Todd Gloria attended and graduated from the University of San Diego, a Catholic school.

San Diego City Councilman Kevin Faulconer once referred to his attending a local church on his 2006 campaign website. Councilwoman Sherri Lightner has made reference to being a Sunday School teacher on her campaign website. Councilman Tony Young displays his appearances at church events on his city council website.

The question now remains whether these men and women on the San Diego City Council will confront the immoral, anti-catholic bigotry and blasphemy of the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Will these elected officials uphold their civic and legal obligation to divorce the city from its relationship with the San Diego Gay Pride organization and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. Or will this city council and San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders throw San Diego's Catholic and Christian Communities under the bus in honoring an organization that Pope John Paul II declared heretical.

The James Hartline Report and California Christian News are announcing plans to hold a nationwide event called "Showdown At City Hall" on the day that the city council votes on the gay pride resolution. A number of Christian leaders and groups from around America will be holding similar events on July 14th as part of a strategically planned campaign to reclaim city halls in the United States.

Will you stand with James Hartline on July 14th at the San Diego City Council? Will you rise up and let the world know that you are demanding a new moral standard of truth, justice and productive liberty at your city hall?

Wow! What a rant. If *anybody* is discriminating against the catholic church, it's only in reaction to your bigoted outbursts. The sisters of perpetual indulgence are a charitable group who are out there on roller skates having *fun*, a concept you're apparently not acquainted with.

And by the way, if you had any balls, you'd post this. But you don't. So never mind.

Religious satire, even though it may be heretical and blasphemous is perfectly legal in America. For centuries the Catholic Church has been sowing hatred, committing acts of violence, and perpetuating pedophilia. Why should anyone have any respect for such an institution? They are reaping what they have sowed.

James, when the Catholic Church starts showing some respect for the gay community, then perhaps the gay community will start showing some respect for the Catholic Church.

Isn't this site religious satire? It's pretty good -- a cool way to put the spotlight on rightwing wackos and show just how wacked-out some of these people are. I mean, this site is funny. Farcical. Very clever.

In addition to the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence there are many churches and religious organizations that will be marching in the parade. Most of these churches are “straight” churches.

If religion is being persecuted and marginalized by the Sisters, why do these other churches keep participating year after year? Why do none of the churches come down to City Hall to complain? Do they worship a different God?

Inquiring minds want to know.

America is a free country. If Catholics don't like the gay parade, there is no law that says they can't have their own parade with gay satire.

Of course, not many people would show up. I remember that a few years back some group held a parade called, "March for Jesus" and only a couple of hundred people came.

Regardless of the controversy, the parade is good for the economy. The parade brings in many tourists from other cities.

I was raised a Catholic and let me tell you: Nobody, but nobody, discriminates against Roman Catholics and the Catholic Church like evangelicals, fundamentalists and other heretics from made-up religions. Jesus Christ founded one church. The rest of those claiming to be Christians are worse than blasphemers. They will burn forever.

Ooh. More religious satire! Good stuff.

If any church can lay claim to being the "one true church" it's the Antiochian Eastern Orthodox.

Well, I think that everything its acceptable within the own group, we just need to be careful with not insulting of making other people feel bad with what we do.

The Catholic Church does not have an exclusive patent on religion or a copyright on the Bible. While nuns are generally associated with the Catholic Church, there are other religions that employ nuns in their work and outreach to the public. The Catholic religion is one among many and God loves them all.

I belong to two churches, The Temple of Priapus and The Temple of Dionysus in San Diego (both are large home churches). Our scriptures, rituals, and customs are held in high esteem by our members but I am sure, like the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, some outsiders would consider us to be blasphemous. For example, in the Temple of Dionysus, we use parts of the King James Bible which has been rewritten under the guidance of the Holy Spirit to reflect what we feel God intended to convey.

In America we do not have blasphemy laws because we have religious freedom. No one has the right to tell anyone else how they can worship God or how to interpret the scriptures. That is one of the freedoms we celebrate on the 4th of July. That freedom is an essential part of the U.S. Constitution and while it often generates conflict among people of different beliefs, it is the bedrock freedom that will insure that this country will survive and thrive. This freedom is also good for religious people in the community at large because each faith community can compete in the marketplace of ideas and evolve by survival of the fittest.

Ha ha ha. Incredible. I would hardly describe the Sister's of Perpetual Indulgence Easter Celebration as a "satanic" act, although I must admit that I'm tickled, James, that you read my article....In fact, I'm impressed you took such a liking to the Hunky Jesus contest. I was actually raised Catholic, and it's too bad you didn't take away the message I was trying to spread in my article on Elephant...one of love, tolerance, acceptance and helping others. Everything, if I'm not mistaken, that Jesus himself stood so strongly for. I invite you, James, to open up your heart, and ask yourself if rants like yours are doing anything to promote the values that Jesus stood for?
